ico Rules and admins

Each year we experience problems with teams that haven’t read the rules (well). This causes problems like posting the match results too late or scheduling matches outside the match week. Previous match week difficulties arose in 3 matches. As certain players/teams have difficulties with understanding our decision, there is the need to explain the motivation of the TmT admins.

As admins we are objective and just apply the rules. We’re not sensitive for insults or buttered up comments. For the admins all teams are equal and we cannot just deviate from a rule, because we understand a situation. If teams have reasonable arguments we’re willing to search for a solution. Solutions need to meet several criteria;
- The solution may not disadvantage a certain team
- If we apply a solution out of leniency, the solution will be applied for all teams in the same situation.

Previous match week we noticed that several teams forgot the rule: “If a match isn’t driven in the given time, this means 0 points. (The map-results aren’t posted on Sunday before 23:59 CET.)”. After several discussions we decided; out of leniency we will not apply the rule, but only deduct some points. This solution is also applied for matches in earlier match weeks. To make sure all teams are treated equally. Unfortunately for some teams it’s hard to accept the decision of an admin. The result is that it’s impossible to have a decent conversation. Teams/players start raging and put the blame at the admins for their mistake. TmT stand for respect and fair play. If you can’t comply with these standards, you’re not treated equally. Statements like “die of cancer” are unacceptable and result in a ban out of the tournament.

TmT wants to make clear; we wish all the teams the best and hope you enjoy participating the tournament. But to make sure the tournament runs smoothly we have to make unpleasant decisions.

Btw it was UniQue that blamed Djoowie to die of cancer. I think people should know and treat them with the "respect" they earn.

Normally they should get kicked out of the tournament...

harrii 4 president! ahah
It doesn't matter anymore.
Sure i agree with what you said, i organized many events in the past.
Teams were free to choose the date they like in 4 weeks time.
But it's too late now.

And, to be honnest, refuse a score coz they post it 2hours later... that was so crazy... emo

But, Tmtournament was nice 4 us.
Mistakes are done to be correct emo

i definitely agree on what has been said here. and like Q points out, this happened last season as well, but not just for their team, we also had this scenario causing issues as you can read here: http://www.tmtournament.com/index.php?l=3&s=8&mod=match&view=details&no=48#comments. I had a pretty fierce discussion then with the admins and I think it's a bit of a shame it's not been changed for this season, because it obviously just causes problems.

Yeah. Rules are rules and they have to be obeyed. That's true. But I truly hope that you all read very cafefully, what Harri wrote. He pointed out a massive flaw in the rules and suggested an easy solution to the problem. And just to make it clear, our team had no problems with the rules in our matches, but when I first time read, how TmT admins have scheduled the match weeks, in that moment I instantly knew that it is going perturb many teams during this tournament.

Of course you can say that "you have two weeks time to train the maps", but that's just pure bullshit. In a real life people start fixing the match on Sunday/Monday after the previous match has ended. And because most teams (not every HC player, but most of the players) don't want to play the match on FRI or SAT, the most logical solution would play the match on Monday.

And I also want to point out that despite all the "scandal admin" talk during this and previous seasons admins are doing a fantastic work, but I sincerely hope that you'll introduce us better scheduled match week in the rules of TmT2013.

ps. This rule was also heavily criticized last year, because (if I remember correctly) we had some similar incidents in 2011 as well. Couldn't find those posts, because the site only shows 3 news in each page (and din't want to go through dozens of pages), but it doesn't remove the fact that the rules need some tweaking.

This problem arose also in our previous match. The default date was Sunday and our opponent wouldn't want to play on Sunday, so we decided to play on Monday. That's quite natural way to move match: if you can't play on default day, you can postpone it to the following day. But in this tournament, as it turned out, this is not possible. The big flaw in the rules is that the default day is the latest possible day to play the matches.

What I propose is that in the next seasons the default day wouldn't be the last possible day. Because most of the matches are played in the default day, so both teams open the new map pack on match week's Monday. Then they search their opponent and decide the day. They haven't yet trained the map pack so the match can't be played in the beginning of the week. Most of the players don't want to play on Friday and Saturday either so they pick Sunday (the default day). The fact is that the match can't be then moved anywhere! It's not usually possible to play earlier as I explained, nor it can't be postponed because of the rules. This is the problem with your current rules.

I'm not blaming any admins; they are doing fantastic job. I'm just wondering the rules. They do not make so much sense now because postponing a match is impossible.

No, Im just admin of several different TM leagues so I suppose, that have experiences in things like these. This was bad decision... ok people make mistakes, but every mistake should have exact reaction (punishment as its written in rules). If they wanted to add to rules some "human factor of mistakes" they should add it as "1st time not following this, points will be reducted, 2nd time given 0"... but no.. rules say " “If a match isn’t driven in the given time, this means 0 points." And thats the way as is should be.

"Its their own fault that they didnt followed rules... you as admins should folow your own rules..."

Yeah it really is their own fault. But people make mistakes, it very usual for a human individual to fail sometimes. Secondly if you are the one concerned in a misunderstanding, you start thinking in a different way, as I experienced it.

Great news btw

"“If a match isn’t driven in the given time, this means 0 points. (The map-results aren’t posted on Sunday before 23:59 CET.)”
written clearly without loops... so you should decide by it and behaviour should not be reason to do not follow it.
